The Princess Plan is a not-for-profit organization created by Michelle Relerford, Morning News Anchor at WMAQ-NBC5. The goal of The Princess Plan is to provide prom gowns free of charge to high school juniors and seniors who cannot afford them. I believe this is an important service because every young woman deserves to experience the magical night of celebrating their achievements while looking and feeling like royalty! So many students miss out on prom night because they don’t have the resources to attend. This contributes to low self-esteem, alienation, even bullying. I aim to relieve at least one major financial hurdle and provide beautiful evening gowns for the students to choose for themselves during a one-day “shopping” experience. Donations will cover the costs of brand new gowns. I hope to eventually provide hair styling and even professional makeup artists for the girls as the organization builds on connections, resources, and funds.
